DUSHANBE, 29.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — Tajik migrants in Russia make an important contribution to the development of Russia’s economy. This was stated by President of Russia Vladimir Putin yesterday at a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.
“Today, we can state that they are making a significant contribution to the development of the economy of our country, they are such a human bridge, a bridge of friendship between Russia and Tajikistan,” Putin said.
He recalled that «the most favorable regime» has been introduced for labor migrants, and noted that the President Rahmon has been raising the issues of labor of Tajik citizens in Russia during personal meetings.
At the end of December 2019, Putin signed the law on the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement with Tajikistan on the organized recruitment of labor migrants. The agreement was signed on April 17, 2019 following President Rahmon’s visit to Moscow. In the talks between the two presidents in Kremlin, special attention was paid to the interaction between Russia and Tajikistan in the field of labor migration. In particular, the questions concerned the regulation of migration flows and the improvement of the conditions for the stay and work of Tajik migrants and their families in Russia.
At the talks between the leaders of Tajikistan and Russia in May 2021 in Moscow, Putin spoke about the shortage of workers in entire sectors of the economy. Putin then stressed that Russia is doing everything to make labor migrants feel comfortable.
