President of the UN GA 76th Session Abdulla Shahid: President of Tajikistan is Promoting Water Issues Internationally

DUSHANBE, 26.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The United Nations highly appreciates the contribution of the President of Tajikistan toward the implementation of the principles of the UN Charter and the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals. This was stated today in Dushanbe by the President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid following the meeting with President Emomali Rahmon.
According to him, Tajikistan has made great strides in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially goals six and 13.
“Tajikistan is a leading country in promoting global water issues. Recently the second high-level international conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” was held in Dushanbe initiated by the President Rahmon,” said Shahid.
According to the President of the UN GA 76th Session, Tajikistan is a source of water for all of Central Asia.
«Under President Emomali Rahmon’s leadership water issues are being promoted at an international level,” he stressed.
Shahid noted that the meeting with President Rahmon also focused combating terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, and manifestations of cross-border organized crime.
