Tajik Olympic Delegation Attends Opening Ceremony of the Islamic Solidarity Games

DUSHANBE, 10.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Tajik Olympic delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya of Turkiye.
The Tajik flag was brought to the stadium by Rahmonjon Mahmadbekov (freestyle wrestling) and Munisa Oymatov (taekwondo).
4200 sportsmen from 56 countries will take part in the Games. Tajik Olympic delegation consisting of 65 people, including 48 athletes was sent to the city of Konya.
The opening ceremony was attended by President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Algeria Eymen ibn Abdurahmon, Prime Minister of Palestine Muhammad Shtiye.
The Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games were planned by the International Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation for 2021, but due to the pandemic, they were postponed for a year.
