President Emomali Rahmon Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

DUSHANBE, 03.10.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The discussion focused on a wide range of issues pertaining to cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan pays constant attention to the expansion and strengthening of friendly relations and beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
They also shared their intention to expand bilateral cooperation, above all in economy, trade, energy, transport, communication, light industry, construction, agriculture, tourism, and as well as in attracting capital.
The effective implementation of the national strategies of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia, including the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 were also discussed.
In addition, they pointed out the importance of consistently activating the work of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and Central Asian countries, the Joint Commission for Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, the Tajik – Saudi Association Entrepreneurs, and the Council of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
Other topics of discussion included the political situation in Afghanistan, the fight against terrorism and extremism, illegal circulation of drugs, and organized transnational crimes. Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia have beneficial cooperation within international organizations, especially the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and it was emphasized that Tajikistan welcomes Saudi Arabia’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a dialogue partner.
