Tajik Athlete Rahimov Wins First Gold Medal in History of Tajik Judo at the Grand Slam Tournament

DUSHANBE, 07.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Temur Rahimov won the first gold medal in the history of Tajik judo at the Grand Slam tournament.
In the Baku Grand Slam 2022, which was held from November 4 through November 6, Rahimov on the last day in the weight category of +100 kg of the final round defeated the representative of Uzbekistan Alisher Yusupov with the privilege of ippon and won the gold medal.
He also received 1,000 Olympic privileges at Baku Grand Slam 2022 and retained his position in first place in the ranking of the best judokas on the planet.
Another Tajik athlete Mullorajab Khalifaev won the silver medal on the first day of the Baku Grand Slam 2022 in the weight category up to 66 kg.
Other athletes Komronshoh Ustopiriyon and Jahongir Majidov in the weight category up to 90 kg and Rahmatullo Mirzoev with Emomrizo Anvarzoda in weight category up to 100 kg failed and lost the opportunity to continue the tournament.
Totally, 12 judokas represented Tajikistan in this tournament.
According to the results of the tournament, Tajikistan with two medals, including one gold and one silver ranks sixth in the standings.
