International Initiatives of Tajikistan Presented in Geneva

DUSHANBE, 14.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The international initiatives of Tajikistan, including the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028,” the announcement of 2025 as the International Year for the Protection of Glaciers were presented at the Summit of effective cooperation for development-2022 in Geneva.
Tajikistan at the summit, organized from December 12 through December 14 by the Government of Switzerland jointly with the UN, is represented by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda.
The event participants were provided with information on the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the presentation of the green economy strategy for the period up to 2037, as well as on the measures taken by the government of Tajikistan to eliminate potential risks for the national economy and global crises.
Abdurahmonzoda stressed the importance of financing priority sectors at the national and regional levels.
He also called on development partners and international organizations to take part in this process.
On the sidelines of the summit, separate meetings were held in the sectors of the environment and climate change, the development of the green» economy, healthcare, education and science, food security, and the recovery of the global economy after COVID-19.
