DUSHANBE, 03.03.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Speaker of the National; Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The parties exchanged views on topical issues of relations between Tajikistan and Russia.
It was noted with satisfaction that the relations and cooperation between the two states are steadily developing in all directions.
Rustam Emomali stressed that inter-parliamentary relations are an important branch of interstate relations and are regularly being developed at a qualitatively new level. In this process, the activities of the Commission for Cooperation between the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation Council contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership of states. Also, relations between the parliaments of the two states are established as part of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS IPA) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA).
The parties expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation as a key element of the partnership between the two states.
It was paid special attention to the issues of accelerated industrialization, including expanding cooperation in the areas of trade, mining, light industry, food, transport and communications, energy, agro-industrial complex, tourism and other sectors of the national economy by attracting direct Russian investment.
The parties also emphasized the interest of the parties in strengthening ties between regions and cooperation in the field of labor migration, including in solving topical issues in this direction.
The parties expressed their views on strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation, expanding ties between higher educational institutions of the two states, studying the Russian language, as well as on other areas of development of cooperation in the field of education, science, culture and healthcare.
The meeting also focused on issues of cooperation and countering transnational challenges and threats, the security situation in the region, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan, as well as other bilateral issues.
