Dushanbe Will Host the Eighth Congress of the Central Asian Football Association Today

DUSHANBE, 02.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The Eighth Congress of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) will be held today in Dushanbe.
Presidents of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa arrived in Dushanbe to attend the Congress.
The FIFA and AFC presidents will hold meetings with the leadership of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, and will discuss issues of the development of football in the country.
According to the official website of CAFA, the current CAFA President Rustam Emomali is the only candidate in the next election of the head of the organization.
In accordance with Article 31 of the Charter of the organization, the elections of the CAFA leadership for a new four-year cycle (2023-2027) will be held at the Eighth Congress.
The Congress will elect a president, two vice-presidents, a member of the AFC Executive Committee representing CAFA, as well as one member of the CAFA Executive Committee and one female member of the Executive Committee of CAFA.
