Olympic Medalists in Tajikistan Will Receive Lifetime Financial Assistance

DUSHANBE, 26.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – From January 1, 2024, on the basis of the Governmental Decree, a new procedure for annual material payments to the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaf Olympic Games is determined. In particular, the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic Games, who received medals during the period of State independence, will be paid a lifetime monthly salary.
This step is carried out on the basis of the Governmental Decree, adopted on April 29, 2023 “On the procedure for material life-long payment to the winners and prize-winners of the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaf Olympic Games in Tajikistan.”
According to this document, for the Olympic types of individual and team sports, 50 indicators are set for calculations for the first place (one indicator for calculations is 68 somoni), 30 indicators for the second place and 20 indicators for calculations for the third place.
The document states that the lifetime benefit will be revoked if the athlete is penalized by the relevant Anti-Doping Organization for a possible anti-doping rule violation.
If the violation is not confirmed, then the benefit, including for unpaid months, will continue during the review.
The basis for the deprivation of a life benefit is also death, violation of sports etiquette and participation in international competitions on behalf of a foreign state.
Currently, in Tajikistan, 4 athletes managed to get an Olympic medal, including a gold medal for Dilshod Nazarov (in athletics), a silver medal for Yusuf Abdusalomov (gushtingiri), a bronze medal for Rasul Bokiev (judo) and Mavzuna Chorieva (boxing).
