Representatives of Tajikistan Receive State Awards from the President of Turkiye

DUSHANBE, 03.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Representatives of Tajikistan, who participated in the aftermath of the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023 in Turkiye, received state awards from the President of Turkiye, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkiye Ashrafjon Gulov and Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Sulaymon Isosoda took part in the ceremony of presenting the medal and the Order of the President of Turkiye “For Valiant Humanitarian Service” to representatives of the countries involved in the aftermath of earthquakes.
It should be noted that from February 10 through February 22, 2023, Tajik rescuers were in Turkiye and took part in search and rescue operations of the population affected by the earthquake.
During this period, they managed to bring a man with a six-month-old child alive from under the rubble 5 days after the earthquake. Also, 144 hours after the earthquake, they rescued a 3-year-old child from the rubble.
For all the time they worked, they removed the bodies of 217 people from under the ruins and handed them over to their relatives.
