EDB Will Increase Financing of Tajikistan’s Socio-Economic Sectors by the end of 2023

DUSHANBE, 27.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) — The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan has proposed to the Eurasian Development Bank to increase financing of the socio-economic sectors to achieve the strategic goals and priorities of the government, including industrialization, energy, strengthening export potential, development of the «green» and digital economy.
On July 25, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda and the Deputy Chairman of the EDB Board Denis Ilyin discussed issues of expanding cooperation, attracting preferential funds due to the influence of external factors, new priority projects based on the country’s development goals and prospects for medium-term cooperation.
Ilyin expressed readiness to increase financing of projects in these areas, the bank’s investment portfolio in Tajikistan will be increased to 3% of the bank’s total investment portfolio by the end of this year.
It should be noted that to date, on the part of the EDB and its structures, 13 investment projects totaling $266.4 million, including 7 grant and concessional projects of the Eurasian Stability and Development Fund of the EDB in the amount of $ 215 million and 6 projects of the bank itself in the amount of $ 51.4 million, have been implemented in various sectors of the economy of Tajikistan.
