DUSHANBE, 21.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Mechanisms for the use of World Bank resources in case of natural disasters and assistance to the affected population were discussed by the Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Rustam Nazarzoda and the World Bank delegation headed by the Specialist in Urban Development and Disaster Risk Management Ms. Chi Yun Huang

The meeting also focused on issues related to determining options for possible trigger conditions to ensure immediate access to conditional liquidity in preparation for possible natural disasters or a crisis situation and drawing up possible innovations for inclusion in the Cat-DDO option.

The main purpose was to support the implementation of preventive measures in case of emergencies.

Nazarzoda informed the guests about the construction of a National Training Center for the training of rescuers, the creation of a center for the training of divers, a Cynological center, the continuation of the construction of a Crisis Management Center in the Central Office and the beginning of the construction of a CCS in the regions.

In addition, the parties discussed the issues of organizing trainings, training courses and seminars for the staff of the Committee.

Chi Yun Huang noted that the Committee has carried out quite effective work. She expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation between the World Bank and the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense.

The parties also had an exchange of views on the prospects for further cooperation, and also discussed issues of mutual interest.
