Border Troops Press Center Reports of Yet Another Border Conflict in Isfara District
DUSHANBE, 08.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Today at 18:00, another clash took place in the border area of the Kumazor, in the Chorkuh rural community in Isfara, reports the Press Center of the Tajik Border Troops.
The conflict was caused by arbitrary acquisition of four hectares of land by Kyrgyz citizens, which, according to legal acts, belongs to Tajikistan.
Instead of preventing the conflict, Kyrgyz border guards escalated the situation by firing at unarmed Tajik citizens. As a result, two Tajik citizens 37-year-old Fazliddin Fozilov and 49-year-old Ayomiddin Sharipov were seriously injured.
Following bilateral measures, the escalation of the conflict was prevented.
Negotiations are underway between the border guards of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and the authorities of both sides in order to fully stabilize the situation.
