Statistics Agency Reports on the Growth of Individual Entrepreneurs in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 31.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) — According to the Statistics Agency, the number of individual entrepreneurs in Tajikistan has increased by 29.7 thousand, or 4.6%, over the past six months.
Until July 1, 2023, 670.4 thousand individual entrepreneurs were registered in the republic. Of these, 93.1 thousand entrepreneurs work on a certificate, 324.1 thousand — on a patent, 63.5 thousand entrepreneurs — on a certificate with special conditions and 189.7 thousand farmers.
In January-June 2023, 15,689 new individual entrepreneurs were registered, including 2,118 individual entrepreneurs working under a certificate, 4,953 entrepreneurs working under a patent, 5,152 working under a certificate with special conditions, and 3,466 farmers.
Most of all entrepreneurs work in the production and processing of fruits, in the textile industry, in the production of chicken meat, eggs, meat and dairy products, household chemicals. The mining industry and mechanical engineering are also developing.
It should be noted that, according to international estimates, over the past 10 years, Tajikistan has been included 4 times in the top ten reforming countries in the direction of entrepreneurship and investment development.
The share of the private sector in the gross domestic product reaches 70%. From 2011 through 2020, 45.8 billion somoni were allocated for the development of industrial entrepreneurship.
Over the past five years, the list of industrial products of domestic production has increased by 40%. During this period, 1,382 industrial workshops and enterprises were built and put into operation with the creation of 15,000 new jobs.
It is important to note that 2,500 manufacturing enterprises have been created over the 30 years of independence, in 2022 2,800 industrial enterprises operated, where there were 85,000 jobs.
