Tajik Judokas Win Seven Medals at the Tashkent Asian Open Cup

DUSHANBE, 02.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik athletes won 7 medals at the Asian Judo Open Cup, which was held from July 27 through July 30 in Tashkent.
86 athletes from 4 countries took part in competitions among teenagers and 97 athletes from 3 countries among youth. The Judo Federation of Tajikistan sent 33 teenagers and 49 youth athletes to Tashkent. The tournament was held according to the rules of the International Judo Federation in 16 weight categories among teenagers (8 weight categories — boys, 8 weight categories — girls) and 14 weight categories among youth (7 weight categories — boys, 7 weight categories — girls).
The only gold medal for Tajikistan was won by Abubakr Sherov in the weight up to 73 kg. Ahliya Muminova in weight up to 52 kg, Fazliddin Sadriddinzoda in weight up to 66 kg, Ilhomiddin Jabborov in weight up to 73 kg, Saifiddin Saifiddinzoda in weight up to 81 kg, Umedjon Rajabov in weight up to 90 kg and Habibullo Ashurov in weight up to 100 kg received bronze medals.
Other Tajik athletes, Parviz Abdurahmanov in the under 100 kg weight category and Ibrohimjon Elmurodov in the +100 kg category, finished fifth in the competition.
