DUSHANBE, 02.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – In order to solve existing problems in the healthcare sector due to a shortage of specialists, the Tajik State Medical University this year increased the number of students enrolled by 500 people.
If 1,500 students were admitted last year, this number has been increased to 2,000 this year.
In particular, the number of students entering pediatric faculties has increased, as there are not enough pediatricians in the republic, as well as specialists in preventive medicine. Solving problems like COVID-19 shows that there are very few specialists in these faculties.
In addition, in order to increase the list of medicines that are prepared from local herbs and resources, the number of applicants to the Pharmacy Faculty has increased.
In general, today the number of students of the medical university is 12,301 people.
In the first six months of 2023, the number of foreign students from 23 countries amounted to 1,936 people, including 1,918 students at the preparatory stage, 6 at the postgraduate scientific stage and 12 at the postgraduate stage.
