Tajik Minister of Labour Attends the High-Level Segment of the 114th Session of the IOM Council

DUSHANBE, 30.11.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – From November 27 through November 28, Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of Population of Tajikistan Gulnora Hasanzoda participated and delivered a statement at the High-Level Segment of the 114th Session of the IOM Council under the title “Climate impact on human mobility: a global call for solutions” in Geneva.
The Minister has also elaborated on the impact of the climate change and its consequences on the effective enjoyment of human mobility for millions of people.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted Tajikistan’s active promotion of an integrated approach to address water and climate issues.
Particularly, it was stressed that on December 14, 2022, the UNGA at the initiative of Tajikistan, unanimously adopted a resolution declaring 2025 as the «International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation» and March 21 as the «World Day of Glaciers.»
The High-Level Segment also focused on the issue of labor migration in the context of environmental degradation, climate change, existential risk of natural disasters, etc.
