DUSHANBE, 19.12.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – “Today, our goal is to increase the volume of investments in Tajikistan several times compared to the current year. We have several projects that we have lined up. I hope we will demonstrate good results in 2024,” said EDB Chairman of the Board Nikolai Podguzov at a press conference in Almaty.
According to him, the bank is ready to allocate about $100 million for the modernization of Dushanbe International Airport. Currently, negotiations are actively underway with Dushanbe International Airport and Somon Air airline on a program to modernize the aircraft fleet and build a technical base for servicing the aircraft fleet.
According to the bank, the growth rate of Tajikistan’s economy remains stable and high. GDP growth in 2023 will be 8.2%. A key contribution to the dynamics of economic activity in the country was made by sectors focused on consumer and investment demand, namely trade and construction.
Tajikistan’s GDP growth forecast for 2024 has been raised to 7.3%. Improved growth estimates for Russia and the EDB region as a whole create conditions for a higher influx of remittances into Tajikistan, increasing consumer activity. The expansion of industrial capacity and accompanying investment activity also creates conditions for rapid growth in domestic demand. In 2025-2026, the economy will expand by 6-7%.
