Fifteen Avalanches Occurr in Tajikistan Per Day

DUSHANBE, 29.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – From January 28 from January 29, fifteen avalanches were recorded from 57 through 63 km of the Dushanbe-Varzob highway.
The special road service equipment of the Innovative Road Solutions company was used to carry out work to eliminate the consequences of a natural disaster. There were no casualties as a result of the avalanches.
In order to protect drivers and passengers, traffic on the Dushanbe-Khujand road on both sides is temporarily suspended.
There remains a high risk of avalanches, rockfalls, snow drifts, surges and ice in the districts of GBAO, in the mountains of the Hissor Range, as well as on the Dushanbe — Khujand — Chanok, Dushanbe — Rasht — Lakhsh, Dushanbe — Sangvor, Kulob — Darvoz, Vanj — Khorug, Khorug — Ishkoshim, and Khorug — Murgob.
Citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to the mountains, collecting firewood, grazing livestock, fishing and hunting.
Until January 31, the danger of avalanches will remain in the mountains of the Sughd region and a number of districts of republican subordination.
