DUSHANBE, 31.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) — In Tajikistan, over 15 million IMEIs were automatically registered using SMS messages. It was reported by the First Deputy Head of the Communications Service Ilhom Atoev at a press conference today.
In Tajikistan, since 2023, according to a governmental decree, a ban on the use of gadgets that are not registered in a unified IMEI code database began to apply.
The purpose of these measures is to combat smuggling and theft of gadgets that use SIM cards.
According to Atoev, the total number of electronic communications subscribers in the republic is 7.8 million people, of which 4.8 million are active users.
“In order to improve the quality of the Internet, a special commission was created under the Communications Service, which monitors the quality of 4G communications, the provision of energy supplies, the operation of solar panels and communication bases. We are taking all necessary measures to reduce the cost of the Internet,” he noted.
