Tajikistan and the IDB Sign New Agreements

DUSHANBE, 31.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) — A Loan Agreement, a Grant Agreement on Technical Assistance, a Framework Agreement and an Agency Agreement were signed between Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to finance the second stage of the project “Support for the Implementation of the National Education Development Strategy.”
The agreements were signed by the Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and the IDB Regional Director for Central Asia Ibrahim Shukri.
The purpose of financing the second stage of the project “Support for the implementation of the National Education Development Strategy” is to contribute to improving the learning environment and strengthening the education system in Tajikistan by updating and expanding access to school infrastructure, creating and expanding a system of continuous professional training for teachers, introducing national assessment of learning and monitoring educational achievements.
The value of the agreements is $70 million, $45 million financed by concessional loans from the IDB and $25 million by a grant from the Global Education Partnership Fund through the IDB.
