DUSHANBE, 28.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Exports of Tajik electricity to Afghanistan has decreased to 40 MW. This was stated at a press conference in Dushanbe by the Chairman of Barki Tojik Mirzo Ismoilzoda.
According to him, the export of electricity to Uzbekistan has also declined. This is due to a reduction in the flow of water in the Vakhsh River and the redistribution of networks in Afghanistan.
Ismoilzoda noted that the inflow of water has decreased by almost 30%. If 320 MW was exported to Afghanistan daily, today this figure has dropped to 40 MW. Over the past two days, the level of the Vakhsh river has increased, which will serve to increase the volume of electricity exports.
The reduction in electricity supply to Uzbekistan began on July 16.
In last six months, 546.6 million kWh of electricity has been exported to Afghanistan. This figure has amounted to 358.3 million kWh for Uzbekistan.
