Gela Shekiladze Is the New Head Coach of the Tajik Football Team

DUSHANBE, 22.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – 53-year-old Georgian specialist Gela Shekiladze, who was previously Petr Segrt’s assistant, was appointed the new head coach of the Tajik national football team.
The entire coaching staff of the team, which has worked in the last two years, will continue to work. Shekiladze’s assistant will be another Georgian specialist Tamaz Bokeria. Alisher Tuychiev remains the goalkeeper coach of the team, and Alifbek Beromov remains the team’s coach-analyst.
As a player, Shekiladze played as a defender in the Dynamo-Batumi (Georgia), Liers (Belgium), Roeselare (Belgium), Arsenal Kyiv (Ukraine) and CSKA Kyiv (Ukraine). He played 22 matches for the Georgian national team.
In 2007-2011, Shekiladze led various Georgian national teams (U-15, U-16, U-19, U-21). Additionally, he was an assistant to head coach Petr Segrt in the national teams of Georgia, Afghanistan, Maldives and Tajikistan.
Shekiladze holds a UEFA Pro category coaching license.
