Another quake hits China

DUSHANBE, 08.01.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Magnitude 5.5 earthquake has jolted Chinese province of Qinghai on Wednesday, a Kazinform correspondent reports.
The quake occurred at 03:44 pm Beijing time. Tremors were felt in Madoi County in Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
According to China Earthquake Network Centre, the coordinates of the epicenter are 34.79° north latitude, and 97.51° east longitude.
The quake shook at a depth of 14 kilometers.
Qinghai is a sparsely populated province in northwestern China. Average elevation in Madoi County, where the earthquake occurred, is more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
No damages or injuries were reported.
As reported, a total of 126 people have been confirmed dead and 188 others injured after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, 2025.
