Asian Parliamentary Assembly launching its work in Baku

DUSHANBE, 19.02.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) is kicking off in Baku, Trend reports.
The event, bringing together 35 delegations and about 280 representatives, is set to discuss a host of important issues.
The APA is a significant platform for parliamentary diplomacy, bringing together the parliaments of Asian countries. Such events help develop discussions and strengthen dialogue between the legislative bodies of member countries.
To note, the following guests have arrived in Baku to participate in the session: the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Puan Maharani; the Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Sultanate of Oman Khalid Hilal Nasir Al-Maawali; the Chairperson of the Council of of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalia Kochanova; the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva; the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Bahrain Ali Saleh Abdullah Al-Saleh; the Chairman of the National Assembly of Bhutan Lungten Dorji; the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf; the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani; and the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda.
As part of the event, meetings were held between the Chairperson of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Puan Maharani; the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Oman Khalid Hilal Nasir Al-Maawali; and the Chairman of the Council of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalia Kochanova.
Meetings between the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament and other heads of parliament participating in the event are also planned.
