In the modern world, sport has become the most important means of ensuring peace and coexistence in the world community, through which states, peoples and nations protect their international status and influence, and defend their identity and honor.
Sport and physical education are among the historical values of our national culture, and since ancient times, Tajiks have had various types of national sports games and have been immensely interested in them.
In our national culture, sport is recognized as a symbol of youth and courage, and adolescents and young people are massively involved in training.
After gaining state independence, sport has taken a worthy place in the policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the necessary conditions have been created for the training of professional athletes in all types of sports.
In view of this, the sports sector is considered one of the priority areas of the social policy of the state of Tajikistan, aimed at popularizing sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and preparing professional Tajik athletes to participate in international competitions.
Based on the created conditions, the country’s athletes are able to protect the status and honor of our country on the world stage and represent it in a worthy manner.
Today, in order to encourage winners and prize-winners of international sports competitions and their coaches, a decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was signed, according to which 1,787,500 (one million seven hundred eighty-seven thousand five hundred) somoni has been allocated for the recognition of 46 winners and prize-winners of international sports competitions and their coaches.
This initiative is a continuation of the recognition of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, for the development of sports and the encouragement of honorable athletes of Tajikistan, and once again proves that the development of physical education and sports is always in the focus of attention and care of the Head of State of Tajikistan and the Government of the country.
We would like to remind that back in 2015, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Award of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to Winners and Prizewinners of International Sports Competitions” was approved, according to which for the ninth year in a row, winners and prizewinners of international sports competitions have been recognized with this award.
To date, 370 winners and prizewinners of international competitions have been awarded 8 million 250 thousand somoni from the Reserve Fund of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in a ceremonial manner.
The main goal of implementing state policy in the field of sports is, first of all, to educate a self-aware, knowledgeable, creative, educated and professional generation, physically and spiritually well-rounded, and thus create a reliable foundation for a strong Tajik society.
