DUSHANBE, 06.02.2025 /NIAT «Khovar»/. «The National Water Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2040», including its Action Plan for 2025-2027 introduced at a joint meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Water Resources Management and the Coordinating Working Group on the Implementation of the Water Sector Reform Program of the Republic of Tajikistan, Khovar reports, citing the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At a joint meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Water Resources Management and the Coordinating Working Group on the Implementation of the Water Sector Reform Program of the Republic of Tajikistan, key areas of water sector development, new projects and initiatives of international partners aimed at the effective implementation of the strategic goals of the sector were discussed.
The “National Water Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2040” is an important document that defines the principles of state policy in the field of water resources management and protection, provides strategic directions for sustainable and integrated water resources management taking into account climate change, and lays the foundation for the long-term development of the sector and ensuring water security.
The implementation of the strategy is aimed at achieving the goals of the “National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030”, fulfilling Tajikistan’s international obligations on climate change adaptation in the water sector, and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
