DUSHANBE, 28.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of Tajikistan’s Fifth Global Initiative and the UN-declared International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (2025), Dushanbe will host the “Women in Glaciers’ Preservation” Forum, highlighting the critical role of women in climate action.
The event also marks the official launch of Tajikistan’s chairmanship of the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue in 2025. Organized by the Committee for Women and Family Affairs, the forum will bring together women leaders, experts, and activists from Tajikistan and abroad.
The goal is to promote women’s leadership in climate resilience, glacier protection, and environmental governance. Participants will discuss how glacial melt and water scarcity disproportionately affect women and girls, especially in mountain and rural areas.
“This forum seeks to strengthen cooperation among women leaders, promote best practices in environmental stewardship, and foster joint initiatives for sustainable development,” said organizers.
The event will feature success stories of female-led projects, expert discussions, and a youth-oriented platform to advance women’s voices in climate policy.
The forum takes place within the framework of the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation (May 29–31, 2025) — the first global UN-endorsed summit focused on glaciers — which will welcome over 2,200 participants from around the world.
