Tajik, Turkish Officials Discuss Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation

Shohmurod Rustam, chairman of the parliamentary committee on legislation and human rights and head of the Tajikistan-Turkey friendship group, met with Turkish Ambassador Umut Acar in Dushanbe, parliament said.
Rustam said multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey has developed over the past 34 years, driven by the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He noted that the two countries have established a solid legal framework, with more than 80 agreements covering political, economic, trade, investment, education and cultural cooperation.
Interparliamentary ties were highlighted as a key pillar of bilateral relations, with the friendship group operating since 2000.
The sides also underscored close positions on major regional and international issues and continued cooperation within organizations such as the United Nations, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
