The Fourth High-Level International Conference on the Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028” will take place in Dushanbe from May 25 to 28.
The conference is being organized by the Government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations and other development partners to advance progress toward the goals of the water decade, proclaimed by a U.N. General Assembly resolution on Dec. 21, 2016.
The event will be held in person and will bring together high-level representatives of governments, U.N. member states, international and regional organizations, financial institutions, research and academic institutions, the private sector and civil society, including women’s, youth and children’s groups.
Participants are expected to visit regions of Tajikistan to explore natural landscapes, tourism facilities and the country’s water and energy potential. A thematic exhibition on water resources will also be held, highlighting the use of water for economic development.
An official website for the conference was launched in March, providing detailed information on the program, participation procedures and key topics.
