High-level talks between the Republic of Tajikistan and Mongolia

DUSHANBE, July 21, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 21, the discussion of cooperation issues began in a special conversation between the Presidents of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and Mongolia, Honorable Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and continued in a meeting with the participation of delegations.
First, the President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed gratitude for the high level of reception and expressed confidence that “the results of today’s talks will give a new impetus to the further expansion of our mutually beneficial cooperation.”
The parties recalled the steady development of political relations between the two countries and attached special importance to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations as an effective means of strengthening political trust.
During the talks, great attention was paid to priority areas of cooperation in the fields of energy, construction and development of infrastructure, agriculture, including livestock breeding, and the export of high-quality and environmentally friendly fruits and vegetables to Mongolia.
It was proposed to establish Joint Working Groups in the energy and construction sectors and infrastructure development to promote the enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The processing industry, especially light and food industry, mining and processing of minerals were considered among the promising sectors of relations between the two countries.
The regular activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation were considered important for coordinating the complex of bilateral relations and attracting investment.
It was pointed out that humanitarian cooperation is another important aspect of Tajik-Mongolian relations. In this regard, the importance of holding the Days of Culture of the countries on each other’s territories was noted with satisfaction.
The further expansion of direct ties between higher education institutions, scientific and research and academic institutes, analytical centers and other sectoral institutions of the two countries was named as another area of cooperation.
It was noted that there are also broad opportunities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, youth and sports.
Gratitude was expressed to friendly Mongolia for supporting Tajikistan’s initiative to declare 2027-2036 as the «Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations» and other global proposals of our country, especially in the areas of water and climate.
In this context, the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries was particularly emphasized.
A fruitful exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
