Tajikistan, Flanders discuss expanding trade and investment ties

On Aug. 24, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Haidar Rajabzoda met with a delegation from the Government of Flanders, Belgium, led by Jill Sutens, Chief of Protocol (Head of Protocol) at the Flanders Chancellery and Foreign Office within the Government of Flanders, in Dushanbe.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the private sectors of Tajikistan and Flanders attended the meeting, representing pharmaceuticals, tourism, energy, mining, agriculture, emergency management and other sectors.
The sides discussed trade, economic and investment cooperation between Tajikistan and Belgium and exchanged views on opportunities to expand business ties.
The Belgian delegation was briefed on Tajikistan’s economic and investment potential, priority areas of national development and favorable conditions for investment. The discussions covered attracting investment, industrial development, importing modern equipment and technologies, establishing joint ventures and other areas of mutual interest.
The sides also emphasized the importance of strengthening direct contacts between Tajik and Flemish entrepreneurs and manufacturers, organizing business and B2B meetings, exchanging experience, arranging study visits and jointly participating in exhibitions, forums and other sectoral and international events.
Economic relations between Tajikistan and European countries, including Belgium, have developed in recent years, creating favorable opportunities for further expanding economic and investment cooperation.
The meeting was followed by B2B meetings between entrepreneurs from the two sides. Participants expressed their readiness to continue developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
