Tajik schoolchildren won two medals at the third International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, held Aug. 2-8 in Astana, Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science said.

More than 500 students from 106 countries took part in the competition, demonstrating their skills in artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital modeling, algorithmic problem-solving and autonomous robot programming.

The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence is a scientific competition for secondary school students held under the auspices of UNESCO. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Tajikistan was represented by four students: 10th-graders Sinan Kandikov and Dilovar Ikromov of the Abdufattoh Hotamov Educational Institution, 10th-grader Farangis Khayotova of the Presidential Lyceum for Gifted Students of Tajikistan, and Murodjon Khayrakov, a graduate of the same lyceum.

Competing against students from around the world, the Tajik team won two medals in its first participation in the international AI Olympiad.

The ministry said the achievement reflects the growing potential of Tajik youth and ongoing efforts to develop digital education, promote modern technologies and support talented students.
