President Emomali Rahmon participates in first Central Asia-South Korea summit

On September 16, in Seoul, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, attended and addressed the First Summit of Heads of State in the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Korea, and the heads of state of the Central Asian countries.
In his address, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, expressed his gratitude to the President and the friendly people of the Republic of Korea for the warm welcome and sincere hospitality.
It was emphasized that the expansion of cooperation within the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format is of particular importance amid the complex and rapidly changing global environment.
It was noted that over the years, the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” Cooperation Forum has demonstrated itself as an effective platform for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations among our countries.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, described the evolution of this format into a Summit of Heads of State as a manifestation of purposeful efforts toward ensuring common development and expanding international cooperation in the interests of lasting peace and stability at the regional and global levels.
The Head of State described the initiative of the Republic of Korea, the “New Northern Policy,” as an important means of strengthening the technological connectivity of Central Asia with Korea’s advanced economy.
“In a rapidly changing world facing various threats, maintaining peace and stability remains a priority,” stated Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon.
The adoption by the United Nations of Tajikistan’s initiative to proclaim the “Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036)” was described as recognition by the international community of the need to preserve peace and stability as a universal value.
“At the same time, we believe that the joint efforts of our countries will contribute to strengthening the foundations of cooperation in addressing the threats and challenges of the modern world,” stated Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon.
Interest was expressed in deepening economic cooperation and creating resilient supply chains between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea.
The need for joint efforts to address contemporary climate threats and resolve global and regional challenges, including climate change, water scarcity, and glacier melting, as well as for closer cooperation among the countries, was stressed.
Concluding his remarks, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that the outcomes of the Summit would open a new chapter in the history of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea.
At the conclusion of the Summit, the Seoul Declaration was adopted based on the results of the meeting.
Following the sectoral events on industry and artificial intelligence, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in industry and supply chains between the five Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea, as well as the “Korea–Central Asia Partnership Initiative for the Future of Artificial Intelligence, Science and Technology,” were signed between the relevant authorities of Tajikistan and Korea.
