Tajikistan, Oman Discuss Expanding Energy and Mining Cooperation

Tajikistan and Oman discussed expanding cooperation in energy, mining and mineral processing during a meeting between Tajik Ambassador to Oman Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda and Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al Aufi, Tajikistan’s embassy in Oman said.
The sides discussed ways to expand economic and investment ties and make greater use of the potential in the energy and mining sectors.
They highlighted energy as a key area of bilateral economic cooperation and discussed opportunities for Omani companies and investors to participate in Tajikistan’s energy projects, including hydropower.
The sides also discussed Tajikistan’s hydropower resources and the potential for increased electricity generation and investment cooperation.
They emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and introducing advanced technologies in the energy and mining sectors, as well as strengthening ties among government agencies, companies and business communities.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to attract Omani investment to mining and mineral-processing projects in Tajikistan.
The sides said regular contacts between government officials and industry representatives could help identify new areas of cooperation, develop joint projects and expand mutual investment.
