DUSHANBE, 27.01.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/.  The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon chaired regular meeting of the Public Council of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Navruz Palace today.

The Head of State, Chairman of the Public Council Emomali Rahmon in his address praised the role of the Public Council in addressing the most important issues of society, adding that the decisions adopted in the period of independence by the Public Council contributed to peace and security in the country, created a real basis for the formation of civil society, freedom of expression and political dialogue.

According to the President of the country Emomali Rahmon, for 20 years of its activity the Public Council, providing a dialogue between state authorities and civil society, political parties, public associations, non-governmental organizations, creative unions, religious organizations, national and cultural societies and other public associations, helped to strengthen the foundations of national unity, that is it has fulfilled its historic mission.

The Public Council contributes through campaigning and encouragement work to the process of implementation of the three strategic goals — ensuring energy independence, overcoming communication deadlock and ensuring food security, and it was expressed confidence that such initiatives of non-governmental organizations and Association of Small and Medium Enterprises should continue in the future for the benefit of the Government’s goals.

In his speech, the President of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, recalling the difficult situation in the modern world, including such negative phenomena as corruption, the expansion of terrorism and extremism, stressed that the fight against these threats is a challenge not only to the state and the government, but for all political parties, social movements, non-governmental associations and organizations.

It was emphasized that the Public Council at its meetings has repeatedly spoken about the role of youth in shaping the civil society; the State and Government in the framework of its activities based on young people and support each of its creative initiative. With this in mind, members of the Council were tasked, along with state authorities, to make an appropriate contribution to attracting young people to creative works, landscaping, preventing the spread of alien values, fanaticism, extremism and terrorism among the youth.

We will recall that, at present, 7 political parties and about 2,500 non-governmental organizations function in Tajikistan, which put forward their constructive proposals in the framework of the provisions of their statutes and endeavor to develop the various political, social, economic and cultural spheres of the country.
