Tajik – U.S. bilateral cooperation on combating human trafficking discussed in Interior Ministry
DUSHANBE, 03.02.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country met with Ms. Esther Tetruashvili, the representative of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan on February 2.
According to the ministry’s report, the meeting was attended by Head of the International Relations Department of the Interior Ministry Zumrad Abdullozoda, Deputy Head of the MIA’s Academy for Science Karimjon Soliev and responsible employees of the MIA’s Department on Combating Organized Crime.
“During the meeting the issues of bilateral cooperation on combating human trafficking, Tajikistan’s efforts on preventing these phenomena and providing assistance to the victims of these crimes were discussed”, — says the report.
The law enforcement representatives stressed that the Republic of Tajikistan since the achieving independence, as a member of the world community, has recognized and accepted all international acts on human rights. In this context, a number of legal acts have been also ratified. In particular, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On combating human trafficking and providing assistance to the victims of human trafficking” of July 26, 2014, has been approved and is currently being implemented.
