DUSHANBE, 14.07.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. In the afternoon of July 14, 2017, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of American Corporation “General Electric” in the Commonwealth of Independent States Ronald Pollett.

The meeting discussed the prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and American corporation in the field of implementing energy projects.

President of the country Emomali Rahmon urged the management of “General Electric” to pay special attention to the hydropower sector of our country, and to take an active part in investing this and other priority areas of our economy.

During the meeting the parties discussed issues of effective use of huge hydropower resources of Tajikistan, the possibility of developing cooperation in the energy sector, including attracting investments for the construction of hydroelectric power stations, reconstruction of power plants, construction of power transmission lines, and providing priority areas with various power equipments.

It was noted that the active participation of American business circles, including the influential company “General Electric”, will give a serious impetus to the development and expansion of trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries.

A constructive dialogue on other topics of cooperation beneficial for both parties was also held at the meeting.
