President of Tajikistan Meets with Belarusian Security Council Secretary Stanislav Zas
DUSHANBE, 14.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) – In the Palace of Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas.
The two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, primarily focusing on military and military-technical cooperation, ensuring peace, stability and security.
The officials also stressed the effective coordination of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states relating to the fight against international terrorism and extremism, illicit arms and drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in combating the negative global menaces within the framework of the CSTO.
The officials expressed confidence in the implementation of agreements reached within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), including the decision to provide assistance to Tajikistan, to reinforce its state borders with Afghanistan, as well as to further promote the relevant working groups and to enhance coordination between CSTO member nations.
The discussion also focused on selecting a candidate for the post of the Secretary General of the CSTO. The Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to support the candidate proposed by Belarus.
Other issues of mutual interest were likewise discussed during the meeting.
