Emomali Rahmon Receives Japanese Foreign Minister
DUSHANBE, 18.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Tarō Kōno, who is in Tajikistan on an official visit.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the seventh Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Central Asia Plus Japan Dialogue.
The discussion focused on various aspects of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Japan.
“We have been shown keen interest in deepening the relationship with Japan and are willing to further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation at all levels,» said President Rahmon.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction at the regular exchange of high-level visits, including the returning official visit by heads of states. The two officials exchanged their views on finding a more effective way to enhance cooperation in trade, economy, agriculture, energy, road, transportation, education, science, culture, sports and tourism.
The discussion also covered bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia Plus Japan Dialogue, Japan International Cooperation Agency and other promising projects.
The establishment of Business Incubation Center, the Japanese Investment Fund and the attraction of Japanese direct investments, strengthening the intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation were likewise mentioned as necessary.
Supplying the Japanese market with environmentally healthy fruits and vegetables, developing cooperation in the mining industry, pharmaceuticals and establishing cotton processing enterprises have been deemed as areas of mutually advantageous cooperation.
During the discussion of security issues, the current political situation in the neighboring Afghanistan and the necessity of a joint fight against the challenges and threats of the contemporary world were particularly emphasized.
