CIS Customs Officials Discuss Smuggling Combating Issues in Baku
DUSHANBE, 24.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The 19th meeting of the committee of the heads of law enforcement units of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Tajikistan was represented by the Deputy Head of the Legal Support Department of the Customs Service Mehrafzun Mehrafzunov.
Azeri officials as well as those of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and the representatives of the CIS Antiterrorist Center, the Office for the Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and other dangerous types of crimes on the territory of the CIS member states, and the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of the CIS Border Troops also attended the meeting.
Representatives of Latvia and Estonia took part in the meeting as observers, reported the Press Centre of the Tajik Customs Service.
Participants noted the organization’s efforts in conducting joint anti-smuggling operations and the necessity to improve the analytical work in the field of customs.
They also exchanged views on the activities of customs services in the field of law enforcement.
The issues relating to strengthening cooperation in the fight against the illegal movement of timber, fuel, excisable goods, as well as goods transported by individuals by air transport were discussed.
Agreements on joint measures to prevent criminal activities in these areas were reached.
