213 Tajik Citizens Repatriated From Russia
DUSHANBE, 20.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Per President Emomali Rahmon’s instructions, this morning, 213 Tajik citizens were repatriated by a Tajik Air charter flight from Russia, reports the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Before returning, these citizens were in Russian detention centers for foreign citizens. The bodies of citizens who died for a number of reasons in Russia were also delivered, the ministry added.
A special flight also delivered a consignment of medications and protective equipment, including antiviral drugs, protective masks, gloves and goggles purchased by Tajiks living in Russia.
The country’s leadership and the government are aware of the difficult situation of citizens who find themselves in a difficult situation in various countries due to the cancellation of international flights in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, measures are being taken for their speedy repatriation.
To this end, all diplomatic missions and consular offices of Tajikistan abroad were instructed to provide daily information on the situation of citizens to the republican COVID-19 prevention commission and to provide them with all possible assistance.
Per President Emomali Rahmon’s instructions’, a decision was made to implement the plan for the phased repatriate of citizens who found themselves abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The process of returning citizens from abroad will depend on the creation of the necessary conditions, including the availability of appropriate places for quarantine and medical monitoring in Tajikistan.
The republican commission assures Tajik citizens that, despite many unprecedented difficulties, all the required measures will be implemented to maintain the health and safety of citizens at home and abroad.
