Tajik — Chinese Presidents Had Talks by Phone
DUSHANBE, 16.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
At the beginning of the friendly conversation, President Rahmon emphasized the significant contribution of Xi Jinping in the successful promotion of close friendship, good-neighborly relations, and fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
The counterparts discussed some relevant aspects of the Tajik-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership, and ways of further developing it within the current global situation. The officials also noted the importance of continuing joint efforts to strengthen the interaction of the parties, actively promoting key points on the bilateral agenda and implementing the agreements reached earlier, and new models of cooperation between the two countries and their expansion, focusing of medicine, pharmaceuticals, new and innovative technologies.
While exchange of views took place about pressing international and regional issues of mutual interest, the two presidents’ paid special attention to the alarming trends in the growth of crisis phenomena in the global economy amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Discussing the challenge of countering the coronavirus, the counterparts noted the practical measures taken by the two states aimed at combating Covid-19 and reducing the negative impact of the pandemic on the national economic and health systems of both countries.
President Rahmon expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for their help and support from the very start of the epidemic, and praised the statement made by President Xi Jinping regarding the vaccine against the new coronavirus that Chinese scientists intends to ready and make available to the whole world. The Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, in turn, praised the actions and decisions of the Tajik leadership to prevent the spread of the infection.
The heads of the two states expressed their satisfaction with the interaction of their countries within the framework of international and regional organizations within the framework of UN, SCO and CICA, and expressed their confidence that relations between the two countries will continue to develop in the future.
