DUSHANBE, 27.07.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Moderna vaccine has been delivered to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO), Sughd and Khatlon regions, Rasht Valley, and Vahdat, where a vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has commenced among citizens.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as part of the international mechanism COVAX, on July 26, 1.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine produced by Moderna Inc. have been provided to Tajikistan as a humanitarian aid by the United States government. Approximately 750,000 citizens will be vaccinated with this vaccine.
According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population Emomali Mirzoyev, the ministry plans to have 62.4% or 5.8 million of the population over 18 years old vaccinated based on the available opportunities.
“This is the only reliable and simple way to prevent the spread of the infection among the population,” he said.
Mirzoyev also added that the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is currently being carried out across the country, and citizens can go to their local medical facilities to get vaccinated.
“We call on all the residents to take an active part in the vaccination campaign. Vaccination is the main way to prevent the spread of the coronavirus worldwide today,” Mirzoyev said.
