Qureshi: «Pakistan Received Proposals from Tajik Side on Ways to Ensure Peace and Stability in Afghanistan»

DUSHANBE, 25.08.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, who is in Dushanbe on a working visit.
Following the meeting, Minister Qureshi answered the questions raised by journalists.
«During the meeting with the President Rahmon, we discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and ensuring regional security, and the Pakistani side expressed its position on this issue,» he said.
According to Minister Qureshi, the current volatile situation in Afghanistan could have a major impact, first and foremost, on Afghanistan’s immediate neighbors.
«Peace and stability in Afghanistan can help ensure regional security. Today, the main goal is for all stakeholders to work together to discuss the future of Afghanistan,» said Qureshi.
As Afghanistan is a country with different ethnicities, each of their interests must be considered to ensure Afghanistan’s future stability.
«The Islamic Republic of Pakistan supports the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, in which representatives of all ethnic groups can actively participate,» he continued.
Minister Qureshi stressed that his visit to Dushanbe took place per Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s instructions. He noted that Prime Minister Khan has special respect for President Rahmon.
“I came to Dushanbe to seek [his] views on these issues,» said Qureshi.
«The Tajik side has expressed its concerns about the current situation in Afghanistan, which we will be conveyed to Prime Minister Khan,» he concluded.
