Tajikistan urges closer economic ties in the ECO region

DUSHANBE, 30.09.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 27, 2024, on the margins of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Informal Meeting of Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
In his statement, Mr Sirojiddin Muhriddin, focusing on the capabilities of the ECO Member States, noted that Tajikistan is interested in the effective functioning of the Organization in building a reliable transport and communication system, simplifying business processes, efficiently utilizing labor and natural resources, creating a unified energy system, and providing favorable conditions for attracting investments within the framework of the Organization.
At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the development of industrial sector Tajikistan, the potential of renewable energy, and the country’s leadership in addressing climate change issues. He also emphasized the need for joint efforts to tackle modern challenges, strengthen economic ties, and promote sustainable development in the ECO region.
