Uzbekistan set to hold parliamentary elections on October 27

DUSHANBE, 23.10.2024 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Central Election Commission has announced the beginning of the election campaign for political parties.
At a meeting held on Friday, the Central Election Commission of the Oliy Majlis made several decisions regarding the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber and deputies to local councils, according to the press service of the Central Election Commission.
According to Article 128 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as to the representative bodies of state power in regions, districts, and cities, are held in the year of the expiration of their constitutional term of office, on the first Sunday of the third decade of October.
Thus, the elections for deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local councils will take place on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Starting today, July 26, the election campaign for political parties has begun.
