President Emomali Rahmon Opens First-Ever International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 30.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – President Emomali Rahmon officially opened the world’s first High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation on Friday, marking a pivotal moment in the global response to cryospheric degradation.
In his opening address, Emomali Rahmon welcomed dignitaries and experts from around the world and described the event as a “historic platform” for global dialogue on climate change, water security, and sustainable development.
“This conference is a crucial step toward the implementation of the UN resolution proclaiming 2025 the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, — President stated. — It reflects the urgency with which we must act to address the rapid and unprecedented loss of glaciers.”
He warned that glacier loss has already resulted in significant environmental and socio-economic consequences, calling it “a crisis of our time that requires decisive and united international action.”
