DUSHANBE, 29.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, an exhibition of Tajik national crafts and locally produced artisanal and agricultural goods was held today near the Navruzghoh Waterfall in Dushanbe, offering delegates and guests a unique opportunity to experience the cultural heritage of Tajikistan.
On display were traditional handmade products from across the country, including floral embroidery, gold thread embroidery, perfumery (popur), national garments and skullcaps (tubeteikas), handcrafted jewelry, woven baskets, pottery, wooden cradles, and a variety of baked goods and dishes from the Tajik national cuisine.
The exhibition showcased both traditional and decorative applied arts practiced by Tajik artisans — from carpet weaving and ceramics to jewelry-making and woodworking.
Following the exhibition, guests were treated to a cultural program titled «Song of the Glacier», featuring a vibrant performance of Tajik songs, music, and dances presented by leading national artists. The program blended themes of natural beauty, cultural identity, and environmental preservation.
The conference is being held in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, bringing together 2,500 participants from 80 countries, including representatives of prominent international and regional organizations.
The conference is organized within the framework of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, declared at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, and adopted by more than 150 UN Member States through a resolution of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in December 2022.
