Tajikistan and UNODC Discuss Expanding Anti-Drug Cooperation

On May 19, Zafar Samad, Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Alexander Fedolov, Deputy Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan, to discuss regional efforts to combat drug trafficking and prevent drug abuse, according to the agency.

The talks focused on strengthening law enforcement cooperation and enhancing measures aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking and reducing drug abuse in Tajikistan.

Both sides voiced concern over the growing spread of synthetic drugs in recent years, describing the trend as an increasing challenge for regional security and public health.

Fedolov thanked Tajikistan for what he called its reliable cooperation and commended the country’s role in countering drug trafficking across the region.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation in drug control and prevention efforts.
